HARRIS Flex Meds
Rapidly and safely reconcile even the most complex patient medications from the palm of the hand.
HARRIS Flex Meds simplifies the providers’ experience, while also helping clinicians enhance patient safety through formal review of medications at all key transition points throughout a patient’s hospitalization—including initial determination of home medications and compliance. Capture external medication lists imported from consolidated clinical document (C-CDA), retail pharmacy, and state, provincial, or Trust drug databases.
When a physician reconciles existing medications or places new orders, the HARRIS Flex Meds application screens the request using embedded Drug Knowledge Vendor content from Wolters Kluwer and provides near real time notifications to aid clinicians in their efforts to help prevent adverse drug events, even at the point of care. Should a notification register, a “known to me” feature recalls comments entered on previously acknowledged notification, thereby saving precious time for busy providers. In addition, the solution will trigger relevant notifications based on patient’s age, gender, height, weight, and renal function resulting in clinicians providing safe medication management regimens for the patient.
HARRIS Flex Meds supports a single‐click acknowledgement of “continue” or “discontinue” for home, visit and discharge medications. Its unique “Dual‐Search” algorithm encourages the use of hospital formulary while fully supporting non‐formulary medication ordering, when required. Nursing and pharmacy orders (written, verbal and telephone) are supported with “read‐back” verification adhering to regulatory and safety requirements.
HARRIS Flex Meds’ intuitive user interface allows for effective, easy‐to‐use navigation, and is accessible on iOS, Android and Windows devices.
HARRIS Flex’ Integrated Medication Management
Supports medication processes throughout the entire medication lifecycle
Safe medication management is essential. To help clinicians enhance patient safety, work more efficiently and contain costs, HARRIS Flex streamlines the entire medication delivery process; from ordering and dispensing to administration documentation and clinical monitoring.
When it comes to medication administration, we know how important the “Five Rights” are to patient safety: right patient, right dose, right route, right time, and right medication. Our solution incorporates Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) to eliminate guesswork and help clinicians reduce medication errors.
Additionally, we support many types of pharmacy operations including pharmacies that are 24/7; non 24-7; and/or have satellites with different operational hours. Our pharmacy application includes 1,400 procedures with typical orders and routes defined as well as 4,400 medications ready to be configured to the hospital formulary. Medications that may be given one of multiple routes can be placed as a single order, and drug dose administration and documentation is independent of pharmacy hours of operation.
Our EHR, HARRIS Flex, interfaces with numerous pharmacy automation devices including carousels, narcotics cabinets, medication carts and medication packaging systems.
The award-winning DrFirst® Rcopia and Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances Gold (EPCS Gold) products have been integrated into our medication management process, thereby leveraging our partner’s solution as well as their industry and state jurisdictional expertise. A patient’s medication fill history from community pharmacies and from Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) can be imported and used for patient care as well as insurance formulary coverage.
