Clinical Decision Support
Clinical Decision Support is embedded in templates and available at the time of order entry to help providers make the right decision, prevent duplicates and inappropriate tests or medication orders.
HARRIS Flex provides many levels of Clinical Decision Support to its users.
First, near real time notifications, reminders and guidelines embedded in clinical processes promote expert clinical decision support which greatly reduce patient care costs and improve patient outcomes by giving clinicians tools to enhance the quality of their care decisions. A rules engine constantly monitors patients against best practice providing assistance to clinicians in the management of their patients. Whenever the criterion in a rule is met, for example a laboratory result exceeds the threshold set, Flex sends a near real time notification so the care provider can take appropriate action – such as initiating additional orders or changing existing ones.
Second, on-line clinical guidelines integrate with patient diagnosis / problem functionality to optimize disease management processes by reducing clinical variation and tracking outcomes. Availability of medical reference information at the point-of-decision, such as an embedded URL link directly to the hospital protocol for the condition, saves clinicians’ valuable time.
Third, HARRIS Flex is fully integrated with a Drug Knowledge reference software Medi-Span Clinical from Wolters Kluwer which provides clinicians powerful surveillance and guidance throughout the entire medication process i.e. at time of medication ordering, verification, dispensing and administration.
